I was never told it would run away. I mostly remember
pressing onto comic strips and being fascinated by how
it picked up the art.

Oh no, I played with it and just left it on the table more times then I can count. But I've always been a bit of a rebel.

Yeah I clearly remember "Silly Putty" just like I remember "Slinky" and the "Hoola Hoop."

However, I was never told by anyone that told it would run away if I didn't put it back in the egg.

My mother always told my brother and I it would run away if left out of its egg. My brother tested it and the next day his was gone. I always kept mine in egg. lol

I don't remember any warnings about Silly Putty besides "don't get it in your hair." I seem to recall peanut butter being recommended as a remedy if that happens.
