~ - Subject: Reinserecting the Flag QuizI appreciate making mistakes, they are great learning experiences and sometimes I actually set some up appropriately. The last quiz was a bit like that. I knew that Canada flies its flag leaf the opposite side of how the leaf actually grows. I also know that there are other countries that have plants on their flag, and they probably display them in a similar way. I also knew that up is not down and down is not up but rather left and right. When it comes to us left and right is pretty simple, the left side has the heart. Plants on the other hand use a different approach that of proximity (proximal) and distance (distal) in relationship to growth. The tip of a maple leaf is the distal part, the furthest from the growing point, the furthest the water has to go. The stem is the proximal part, closest to the stem.Back to the imaginary bar where there the television consensus is reached for the 4th of July… Up, stars to the pole, normal. Down, stars to the pole, insurrectionist, Up, stars away from pole, dyslexic. Down, stars away from pole, dyslexic insurrectionist. Some laughter at the silliness of topping a leaf from the bottom. Imagine what a leaf flag would look like…

If you take a leaf from a basic deciduous tree leaf like the maple you should be able to tell what side is up and which side is down for the most part as the lower part tends to be lighter. There are parts of the planet where seeing the light colored tree leaf bottoms blowing in the wind is a good indicator of a strong storm coming. As leaf shape vary a great deal this doesn’t apply to all plants such as grasses (monocots), cacti, and evergreens. That’s why it’s such a fascinating exploration, all the shapes to put lego to shame.Now for more rectification of the miss steak for your entertainment here are some new quiz questions…off the top of your head, without peaking.
1. Name a plant, other than the maple leaf that appears on another flag. Bonus point if you can guess which plant is found on two or more national flags.
2. Name a national flag that has two or more plants on it.BONUS: It’s all been about a question of perspective and how important it is at times to change it modify it embrace it, the grand diversity of it all reveals itself from it. It may be silly to you but here is a pretty bona fide example of how a change of perspective can be illuminating.

Mexico has three plants on it. The Mexican eagle is sitting on a cactus with one claw and holding a snake with the other. Sprouting below the cactus, going one direction is an oak branch and opposite that is a third plant but heck if I can remember what it was.Muchas Gracias Señora Castillo from 8th grade Spanish class! Hot stuff poly. Laurel branches is one of the most popular plants appearing on flags. I count 6 of them and of course I'll give out the answers later.You do make an interesting point though that laurels represent peace. My understanding is that they represent victory, from ancient times, the laurel wreaths, even worn by Ceasar the inventor of pizza.
My understanding is one plant representing peace is something found on a few flags as well, three to my count.

But I'm surprised that no one has put out a most obvious flag. It's almost embarrassing.
There are a few flags that have what I think is Laurel branches, which represents peace ...maybe ...don't remember what countries though
