I am so grateful for your collective prayers and good thoughts in my post below. I wanted to make this a separate post as to be sure you all were updated appropriately. So Karen has been preparing for surgery and for appointments for the oncologist. She actually works for the medical group that gave her this dreadful diagnosis.
She has since had all of her scans, ultrasounds, tests .. and it was discovered that there was at least one DR. that questioned it all. He asked why these tests were NOT done with contrast (dye). He said a diagnosis this serious absolutely had to be done with contrast. He was furious.
Who does this?!
So they did a repeat of all of these tests with contrast.
Not only does she *not* have an adrenal mass in her throat, but that she does not have the dreaded C word.Karen and her family and Karen and I have just been agonizing over this. She was completely beside herself and so was I. We don't know what made them think they saw the awful stuff but there is a current investigation underway to find out.
Thank you hearts for all of your love and concern. I too, am furious, but more so I am grateful that she is going to be okay. they are thinking that her history of sinus infections since she was a kid is what she actually may have
My heart to all of yours, and Karen's to all of you, yes she knows, I told her.
*love*
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and words. And thank you for the teddy bears, The_Grey.
The world needs more of these for sure!*love* .. to all of you

Doesn't anyone want to consider the possibility that God cured her??
So glad there was a doctor paying closer attention.
God decided to cure her because of your prayers, so the diagnosis changed.Hallelujah!!
Cool
A little something for you and Karen.
~hugs for all, for having to go through all of that~
Wow, jus wow. Shocked but not surprised, people often neglect the value of staining. I'm glad the Dr. caught it, and if it is part of standard procedure then yes it should be investigated.Good luck, these days it's hard to say what is more dangerous to the survival of the human species, Artificial Intelligence or Institutional Intelligence.
Glad that doctor set things straight. I wish that was the case of so many others.
FANTASTIC NEWS!
I'm thrilled at the wonderful news for both of you and I understand the anger of her having to go through all of this...bless her and you, as well, friend.
good news
I'm glad to hear that the news is good.
Good thoughts continue.
This is good news. A shame she had to go over these coals to get it.
Prayers now for her mental comfort…
Well you have to really celebrate this don't you? God is good.
That's wonderful news! Will keep sending the good mojo just in case it's needed though.
that's awful she had to go through
all that..thankfully the mistake was corrected.Great news!!
Wonderful news. Thankfully she, you and all her loved ones can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Thank heaven for the doctor who made them repeat all the tests correctly! I am so very glad it's not cancer, but furious for all that worry you and she and all her friends have had!
Praise be!
Rejoicing for the both of you.FHL
Sometimes people get impatient with contrarian physicians but they are the best people to have on your healthcare team. Very happy for everyone concerned that this turned out much better than expected.
Wow! What a horrible experience! But am so happy another professional spoke up
Why did they put her though all that? Thank God for that doctor who questioned!
I'm sorry she went through it,but given the choice between errors of too few or too many tests, choose the later.
