Last night just after sundown, I sat in a kayak and watched about 40,000 bats emerge from a bridge at the Cosumnes River preserve, near Saacramento, California.

It was wicked cool. This isn't my video but it gives you the idea. We sat under the same bridge and watched three streams of tens of thousands of bats emerge just after sunset.

   Fascinating creatures. I love watching for them in the evenings. Exploring caves was a common pastime of mine in my youth. Bad idea to be in one at dusk! LOL

   I set up a bat house at the lake but never got any squatters to take up residence.
