It's Saturday night...i'm happily home alone...after spending a long drowsy time with Baron Igor on our back patio this afternoon...talking serious and nonsensical things...

He's been training one of the crows/ravens to not be afraid...with a reward of bread...it won't come real close...but it's bolder than it was...likes to hang out on our roof...

Since i have a black thumb...and we need permission to plant things in the ground...i'm getting some jeweled garden stakes and solar powered flowers to fill in the one bed where nothing grows...it should be pretty at night...and i may add a solar lantern that spills water/lights into the bed...

We still haven't started our tomato and pepper planters...maybe this week...the weather has been so changeable...88 one day...near freezing the next night...

i found a real food bargain today...Red Bee BBQ...they offered 3 meats and 2 sides for $19.99...not much more than a burger combo...i got us both smoked pork, beef brisket and 2 St. Louis ribs...with honey cornbread and beans...we both ate our fill...and have more than half left...we never even touched our beans...so that's 2 meaty meals for only $10 a serving...

Another food investment that's turning out well...Baron Igor asked for one of those hot dog cookers that has rollers and turns the dogs...He loves it...and we're using it all the time...it works well with various sausages, too...though the big fat ones tend to roll forward and get stuck...but it's a quick and easy meal anytime...and it's fun to vary the toppings...lots of sauces come in squeeze bottles...and there's canned cheese...various veggie relishes...

my leg is a lot better...i can do the stairs again...and it's only gone weak on me a couple of times...plus...i'm cleaning out the area where i tripped and fell...not all gone yet...but most of it has been tossed or relocated...Baron Igor gets mad when he falls and hurts himself...he wants to throw out whatever the offending item is...and i have to remind him that it doesn't punish the thing...just deprive us of...say...one shoe...or a book that fell...or a piece of silverware...(we don't bend down to pick up often...and the grabber thingie only picks up some items)...

We're both feeling a pull toward learning more about the Goddess Hathor (She is the Rgyptian Divine Cow...feeding all...usually shown as a woman with cow's ears)...who is love and beauty and many kinds of Good Things...and i'm considering getting one of those polished metal mirrors with her head on the handle...it's amazing how reflective those can be...great for "scrying"...seeing visions in the hazy reflection...

i don't usually wear scents these days...we're all rather sensitive to them...MiLady Wife was really bad with that...but i got introduced to essential oil perfume of Blue Lotus (which has its own God...Nefertum...for perfume and medicinal distilling)...and then saw natural violet perfumes...Mama's mother LOVED violets...always grew them on the steam radiators...and the wild ones grow on Mama's grave...so i'm gonna try some of that, too...

i need to lift my spirits...especially about my appearance...so i think i'll finally go get the haircut i've been wanting for many months...not much shorter, actually...but going back to the kind of long layered shag i wore back in the 80s...right now, it all just hangs there...and maybe some new glasses...

Even though i have ugly feet and toenails, i bought some Birkenstock-type sandals in gold straps...but i need to punch more holes in the top strap...i'm hoping i won't walk out of them like i do with slides...these have cork insoles, so that should help...

For those of you who are...or have...living mothers...cherish them this weekend...no matter how much they bug and disappoint you...without them, there would be no YOU...and we need you...so we're grateful to them...

My favourite hotdog topping is a toss-up between room temperature sauerkraut and a firm onion chopped, mixed with a spoonful of mustard...the mustard keeps the onion from falling off and the flavour combo with the crunch of the onion is delicious!

If the garden bed doesn't support any plants, fill it in with grass and make it disappear. The garden art sounds fun!

You made me smile, cory{BI} ...so many positive notes in this post *hug*

I'm so glad you're beginning to feel better, and that your legs are holding up more! I must admit I use my oven for most things now, cos I can just bung the food in and leave it to cook!
