There are a couple of new mirrors installed in the dressing area of the gym I go to. I wonder if there are security cameras! One or two is fine, like over the sinks, but now there are mirrors everywhere! Not only that but half....but not all?? ... of the shower stalls have had their doors removed. I don't care if I shower with other guys, but it's just odd to have the gym set up with shower stall doors, and now half of them are gone. Maybe out for repair? I didn't notice any broken ones, before the 4th.

I have to say, though....I can't be responsible for nausea, vomiting, or emotional distress if some unsuspecting person catches sight of me, naked in a mirror, while I'm getting dressed after a workout.

      weird...
I can't even imagine where security in a gym shower room would require surveillance of this nature.

If this were my gym, I would either change gyms or only use the showers with doors and wear at least a towel outside the shower ...which is actually how I use the shower room now.

I am not a security risks and don't give peep shows.

Is that intentional because they believe people who buy gym memberships are narcissists?

Ken, I'm not worried about the two-way mirror thing. Honestly, if someone is sitting back there staring at me, then the onset of ugly-stress blindness that started when I walked out of the shower is their own fault.

But seriously, there are now four full-length mirrors in a space for about a dozen people to change and stuff their kit into lockers. There are mirrors over the sink around the corner, two full-length mirrors in the shower area, and another very wide, but not full-length mirror over the shelf where you toss the workout towels. It's just kind of weird.

There are two ways to test if a mirror is see-through:

Try to peer through the glass. Press your face up to the mirror and cup your hands around it, creating a dark tunnel to block out as much light as possible. When you do this, if the light in the observation room is at all brighter than the light on your side of the mirror, you should be able to see something beyond the glass.

Conduct a simple “fingernail test.” Place your fingernail against the reflective surface in question. If there’s a gap between your nail and the mirror, it’s most likely a genuine mirror.
