My father followed my mother this morning. I am simultaneously heartbroken and at peace that they're resting together.

A few years ago he got mad when we talked to him about a living will. "G-- Dammit I expect my kids to be smart enough to know when I'm dying"

We knew and never more so than after we lost Mom on the 4th. She was his reason.

I remember sitting at the supper table and one of us asking if we were on a sinking boat who he'd save. He didn't miss a beat "Your Mama". The thing is he had five children vying to be favorite and five children genuinely believing that they were.

We'll be honoring our parents together on July 6th. Nothing was left unsaid. We knew and they knew and that's forever.
