Before I get into trouble with the Society of Plant Cruelty by Animals (SPCA) I’m going to post another flag quiz, this time about animals that appear on national flags. Test your skills.1. Name a national flag with a mammal on it (humans count as mammals by the way).
2. Name a national flag with a bird on it.
3. Name a national flag with any other type of animal (real or imaginary) on it (fish, reptile, insect)Have fun.
Ta da! Malta it is!On the flag there is a St. George cross but not just the cross but a circle depicting a scene of St. George, on a horse jousting a dragon. With the words "For Gallantry."
I think that comes from the important role that island played during the Second World War. There is a movie "The Malta Story" starring Alec Guiness if you like the old black and white war movies, this is a great performance. At any rate, here is an up close photo.

You can keep on guessing if you want, still faces on suns I think...
Malta?
Thank you Maya@bwr, nice to have tourists.
Anguilla is a British territory so it's technically not a national flag but it does indeed have three fish forming a circle.Ecuador is a rich one because it has a coat of arms. Looks like a condor on top, Then the sun but AHA, it has a human face.
That's a revelation. There are several flags with the sun on them combined with a human face. Go figure.
On the left there is laurel, the victory icon, the palm on the right, the martyrs for the fight of independence and liberty. Then there is a scenery with the highest mountain forming a major water way with a historical ship on it, and the masts on that ship combine with, get this two intertwined snakes.
Needless to say this is the booty country, the jackpot the big payola.
Bhutan: Dragon, again a proper 4 legged dragon but unlike the Wales one, no wings.
The Isla of Man flag is such a hoot. I had a friend who lived there, I think it's the origin of the Manx cat, but good call ~cecile~ .
Still haven't got the tasty Mediterranean island that's also loaded with juicy animal and human booty. not Corsica, not Sardinia.
1. Anguilla
2. Ecuador
3. Bhutan
Oh, the Isle of Man flag is a made up of three legs attached together in a sort of pinwheel.
I did not know that... I thought it was the national flag.
And thank you for the kind welcome back!
The unicorn is the national animal of Scotland (learn something nude every day). It does not appear on the national flag however, it's a white St. Andrew's Cross on a blue background....or maybe 4 blue triangles on a white background, two for one deal but help yourself to another guess. There's still that mediterranean island to go to....
Nice to see you back by the way.
Scotland has the unicorn.
Oh Pepin, what a great groaner, thanks for that. Joining the bird brains, and there are still lots of possibilities is correct vaash, ~cecile~ identified Wales earlier and I put "imaginary" into the quizz question specifically as that. Technically it is a reptile.
A bit late to the game but Guatemala features a Quetzal.Doesn't Wales have a dragon or reptile of some sort on it?
The one that attracted my attention was #2,Dominica,which could be a portrait of my first cousin.
Dang ~bambou~, getting warm, warmer and now you are HOT. Come on you can get it...LOL
My what a wonderful flag of Corsica ~bambou~. Unfortunately Corsica is not a nation per se, but rather a region of France.Close enough for a hint to a national flag (other than Belize) that depicts a human being. It's also an island in the Mediterranean.
*LOL* not a woman, a man's head, and the same for Sardinia (4 heads)
Corsica, a woman's head.
Oh polly you sure made me earn my pay today.I have found one other flag with a human being on it (really had to check that one out because it's obscure but definitely there). There are several other national flags that use human body parts. Strangely enough there are number of flags that merge a body part with something else. Pretty wild and twisted...So still work on the humans and body parts of humans in flags.
American Samoa is a an unincorporated territory of the US and yes does have an eagle on it, but the national flag of Samoa (the independent nation) doesn't have body parts.
Top notch on Albania, one of the wildest flags I've seen in this category a real eye grabber.
Having fun yet? Keep those answers coming and don't hold back pouncing on me if I goof up. I'm learning so much about national flags, what a great quiz, who came up with this idea???
giggling
Belize's flag is the only national flag that depicts human beings
American Samoa - American Bald Eagle
Albania - black two-headed eagle
~cecile~ you get the early bird of paradise bonus, and the most creative prize for spelling nude guinea. giggles. You also get the imaginary animal prize. Yes, Wales has a dragon on it and it's a real dragon, not a wyvern that is often passed off as a dragon (dragons have 4 legs and wings, wyverns have 2 legs and wings).
timbre, sorry England/UK/Britain does not have the lion on any of it's flags (Union Jack or the St. George Cross) but there are some flags with the lion on it so have another go at it.
Orlando, yes Mexico is a big hit isn't it, plants and animals together on one flag. Make a note of that, might use it later.
Let's see if we can get a few more up there.
Sweet T
2. You're looking for Mexico again, aren't you. :)
England the lion
2. Papua Nuigini, bird of paradise
3. Wales, dragon
LOL...you are a hoot anyone.
