I was never told it would run away. I mostly remember
pressing onto comic strips and being fascinated by how
it picked up the art.
Yes, I'm old enough (actually almost....... Almost remember when it was gifted to us).
Oh no, I played with it and just left it on the table more times then I can count. But I've always been a bit of a rebel.
Thanks for sharing. i was in a discussion elsewhere over silly putty and she told me no way was silly putty running away a thingSo thanks to those that make me at least know
I'm not the only one

Yeah I clearly remember "Silly Putty" just like I remember "Slinky" and the "Hoola Hoop.":https://soi-seenyall.hyperchat.com/Slinky.jpg :https://soi-seenyall.hyperchat.com/Hoop.jpg However, I was never told by anyone that told it would run away if I didn't put it back in the egg.
Who fed you that bull?
I don't recall being told it would 'run away' if left out
Was a disappointment to me.
I was suspicious of TV commercials from then on!!!chuckles!
Yes, I remember silly putty. It smelled funny.
I have no idea about "run away ....."
Mom fed it to me for breakfast all through grade schoolWhich probably explains a lot
My brother left silly putty on a carpet. By morning, it wasn't pretty!
It must be a regional thing. I never heard of it.
I had Silly Putty as a kid, but never heard that story. Wow!
My mother always told my brother and I it would run away if left out of its egg. My brother tested it and the next day his was gone. I always kept mine in egg. lol
I don't remember any warnings about Silly Putty besides "don't get it in your hair." I seem to recall peanut butter being recommended as a remedy if that happens.I do remember being warned not to taunt Happy Fun Ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmqeZl8OI2M
nope. never heard that.
yay! OlderGentleman confirmed my suspicions
Yes, I was told that. Back in the mid 60s.
then i guess it wasn't an area thingi'm beginning to wonder if my family just fibbed to me

I had Silly Putty when I was a kid, but I don't remember ever being told it would run away if I didn't put it back in the egg!
