Lower Floors
The streets are full of warlords. No less than fifty gangs inhabit this city, some squabble over floors in a megablock, others command entire regions and neighborhoods. When they need fixing, they go to a local ripperdoc. A few even come to him. Today it was not at his clinic but within their very home, a secret call that demanded privacy. The goings on of it still spin in his head as he exits that door. How anyone made it back home after what he saw endured was more shocking than what he's seen in Trauma Team surgical suites for the past weeks. There is something ineffable about some cases. The miracles. The will to live. Something that keeps those hearts beating just a second longer than they statistically might.
