His slanted eyes alert watched the girl not taking his attention from his surroundings as he sat there on the back of his beast. At his left hip tucked into the obi about his waist was the daisho or two swords of his rank, at the small of his back the dagger or tanto, and on his back a quiver of arrows that protruded over his right shoulder making it easy for a quick draw. The short cavalry bow was on his left shoulder also easily slipped off. The beast also carried arms that were suited for mounted battle like the lance and longer Tachi. He was armed to the teeth as he traveled alone primed for combat no matter how it presented itself.

He watched the girl with intent as she turned to speak to him he instantly recalled the beast, he had seen her before. A smile ghosted upon his lips when he saw her neck was not adorned with steel. He had also noted that she was parched and thirsty no doubt hungry too. He drew a bota of water from the saddle and tossed it to her

"drink. you look rather thirsty" it was not a request but rather a command.

Dark eyes caught sight of the beast and it's rider and she momentarily thought of flight but of what use and to where exactly would she flee,a tip of tongue swept over lips that were dry as she formulated her response with thought,truth was the only option as she pushed the cloak back exposing her long white mane .
"Greetings Master "was spoken on a soft toned voice as she kept her eyes downwards..

"Aye she's alone unless one counts her own conversations she's been having with herself, she is simply walking Master destation unknown as she's not entirely sure where she is now"

The Pani saw the kaiila had sensed something by the flare of its nostrils and the pricking up of its ears. He too was alert now not sure of what was to present itself. His senses were now more alert than any time on the trip his body ready to react in an instant.

The bend in the road opened up and he saw the figure walking along the road, it appeared to be a girl and as he drew closer his almond-shaped eyes scanned the underbrush beside the roads taking in any position that could conceal an ambush. He had known that slaves were used as bait in many instances to reduce the expectations of their adversaries in the event of an ambush. As he drew closer he stopped the beast and spoke in the low tone that he always used.

"greetings girl, what brings you to these open and yet dangerous roads, are you alone?"

The slave cloak was pulled tightly around her lithe frame,trying as best as she could to protect her milk toned skin from the harsh bite of the rays belting down from above,long mane concealed by the cloak and dark.eyes scan the road ahead ,how long she had walked for she could not say but her legs ached and her belly certainly was not pleased with the lack of food.

The road had been sparsely used since she had been on as night nears she must find a place to rest,her mind awash with recent events but her inner strength keeps her focused on putting one foot before the next.

The Pani was comfortable in the saddle of his big brown kaiila, they had both bonded after the clash on the plains with the Tuchuk party. He thought back on the adventure that he had been on from the time he headed to Turia for the festival and where it had led him. They had traversed most of the Southern part of the mainland. He had loved every moment of it and yet it was time to move on and make his own story and find his own truths.

The Pani had been amazed at the brotherhood of the Wolves and their raiders and realized how important it was to be a part of the collective. He had always been an island on his own a warrior that operated on his own terms carving his own path. He rode on the road relaxed yet aware of all that was happening, all his senses working in tandem giving him a firm grip on his terrain and immediate vicinity. He was traveling alone once more and loved the freedom that seemed to lift him above it all, he enjoyed the feel of the breeze on his face, the smell of the foliage beside the road, and the sense of individuality and independence.

Wow, that's an impressive load of work, no wonder you've not been here much! I was wondering if all was OK, so glad to see it is. We haven't had any 'summer' here yet - although I have my fingers crossed today, as the sun is shining brightly and it was actually warm when I went out to refill the bird feeders, so there is hope!.....LOL...
