It does sound like you're joking. So he laughs. "Promises, promises..."

Sometimes, you aren't aiming for a mood, so much as in one. The mood being something akin to 'kicking yourself when you're down', given the musical is entirely about the making and breaking of a relationship. Fantastic and ominous, though, right? "Sorry, uh, mid musical, probably not a great place to start..."

The dishes. A blink, mind trying to shift gears. "Yeah, they just need to be dried and put away." You mentioning it has drawn his attention to it, and you may not have ESP, but you've seen often enough the way everything is written on his face, on their sleeve. The look, in this case, is one of realizing something is conspicuously abnormal for you, and more on display than anticipated.

"Oh, brilliant. Peeling? I was thinking mashed, but we could probably toss them in the oven, too." That as he moves to grab the potatoes.

Oh, he loves the song. Loves the whole show, actually. But if you know the show - Care would absolutely be yelling at him for wallowing, musically speaking.

The laugh, this time, is a little hollow. The song that is on is certainly telling you about his personality. And now he's struggling to think of anything that isn't too telling. "I hate to break it to you, but I'm an easy target for clowning on." Normally, he actually kind of finds it soothing. Domesticity, domestic things.

A moment of worry. "Foie gras wasn't in the recipe I found? There's prosciutto?"
