The first place I can say that shaped me was the library. My Mom and Dad were both readers and trooped me to the library from an early age. It helped me to realize that imagination can go far and wide. Isn't that what we do here best? Use our imaginations.
The second was a small place in Mississippi where I lived. I worked at a radio station there and got to know and become friends (that last to this day) with folks who were not like me, a city kid. I learned that we are all the same for the most part, just wanting to live peacefully.
The third was a trip to Alaska. Bears and whales and glaciers, Denali, majestic bald eagles, welcoming people..seeing these things made me want to take every opportunity I had to get out in the world.
