I always wanted an elder brother to torment. And he's as close as I'm getting, though he's not at all what I had in mind.

Nor does he think he's considered even remotely a sibling by the man.

He reminds, drawing his arms up to twist about your neck, his fingertips massaging into your hair.

He'd found the whole ordeal delightful as you'd both displayed an alarmingly similar stubbornness.

We should go out to walk the garden. We'd be having it all to ourselves.

And he's come to find many a place where one feels alone in the world.

Really dressed up, coming to call on a special occasion. A Happy Anniversary card tucked into a basket of only slightly burned brownies. A gay array of blue chicory flowers and delicate baby's breath tucked in at the corner to make it VERY special!

Knocking at the door like EVERY good girl should. Not too loud, not to soft. JUST RIGHT! Chewing my lip, covertly glancing around for any sign of TROUBLE, adjusting my bonnet.

Practicing my introductory greeting and my congratulations under my breath. Mentally cussing Pan like a drunken sailor on leave, for making me feel nervous about social engagements.

It's cruel of you, darling. I wholeheartedly encourage it. I tell you with a gentle chuckle.

It was always a silly competition, and I'm still not reconciled to the thing that brought it about, but I'll take the win. The little decoration certainly gives a j'ne sais quoi to white tie.

Better that than one for breeding pigeons, I conclude with a mutter.

Distract me, with a kiss and an embrace, and we can fantasize about sunshine even if it comes with barns attached.

I should like to see the farm again, quite frankly. I have a proprietary interest in how that blasted ram's doing, after all.
