Hey, his own feelings about Will surprise him most of the time still. One minute he's so angry and the next he's trying to mourn the loss. To be fair, Dad should be the person they can go to and vice versa. Willa's had to come to him and he had to be her dad. Not going to get into it about their dad, it's just no point.

Once inside, the familiar scene hit him. It was...just like it always has been. The club was a well oiled machine and as long as people were looking to see naked ladies dancing, spend a bit of time with them, and drink away their pains, this place could run forever.

But as he heads to the bar, he looks to her spot. It's empty. It's not like it's roped off or anything. It's just empty. He looks up at the window to her office upstairs, where if she wasn't down here, she would be there. But she wasn't in there either.

He walks up to the bar, but is intercepted when amy and Lauren come over to offer hugs and he talks with them each. He offered platitudes, they offered similar nice words. This was a weird family hurting still and he feels like shit that he hadn't been here until now. She would have been pissed at him for that. She loved her girls, loved her staff. He takes a spot at the bar finally and orders a bourbon on the rocks.

Let’s be honest here. You’d be first in line to kick her ass if she gave up on her dreams without at least giving it all she had in the attempt. And she wouldn’t blame you for it. She’s just very happy it’s finally all working out for her. Even if she’s also glad to be taking a bit of a break for the first time in a long time.

If you think she’s ever going to turn off that feature, you’d be crazy. After what she’s been through in her life? Yeah, that’s not happening.

She was trying not to think about that part, honestly. Because it makes wounds she thought long closed and scarred over hurt even more as if they were freshly cut. Which, if she’s honest, surprises her more than maybe it should.

To be fair, Will is a really complicated topic for Dad. He’s never been able to talk to her about him either, though their difficult conversations tend to end in silence rather than escalation. Probably because she is her, and you are you. And believe her, she’s tried, though she finally gave up because it was easier to bury Will under lots and lots of other layers inside of her than to deal with the silence from Dad anymore about him. But if anyone is going to understand your feelings about things when it comes to Will, it’s her. And vice versa.

There’s another light smile when you wipe the tear, and she nods.

“I’d like that. I was actually on my way to the house, I have presents to deliver. Yes, including one for you.”

Because she knows you’d ask. She’ll take a step back out of the doorway full and lean down to grab the bag of gifts, and wait for you to close the door behind you. Just ignore the fact she was looking towards those speakers you set up before that door closes, would you?
