In the split-seconds leading from where she first emphasized a non-threat to absolutely acting on you, all that she saw and heard were encouragement verifying that yes, indeed, it was the correct call to stop whatever momentum you were building, whatever escalation or confusion or danger you represented.

There was always time to sort it through immediately afterwards, perhaps under more control and without danger or chasing bloodhounds to make urgent what was to be a delicate interaction.

So she proceeded, through the next intervening one-tenth of a second, in her follow-through with the shock baton leading and spearing through the charged, damp air in this filthy and dangerous-looking confluence of data cables and unknown NET devices and—

One split-second later, the electric potential of the tip of the device arced through the air and licked at the furthest fringes of your upraised hands, but at the same time whatever was inside you detonated and threw its overwhelming signal into everything within her, even hardware that had no way to talk to anything, designed specifically so that it was rendered safe from external influence.

Via means she couldn't hope to understand, even in the clearest of contexts and certainly not under the sudden and blinding wall of white-hot pain that bleached Every sense available to her, from all of what her body had and also new channels she didn't even know could experience discomfort in the first place, let alone have those overloading parameters sweep her completely out of the present.

Whatever perception that she experienced the world through, underwent an interruption and whether it was the jolt of her own limbs or some external force, she was no longer where she was, one millisecond ago.

Instead, a pain coursed through most of her entire body and her legs were rubber, watching the dangling cables and tatters hanging from the ceiling, reflections of torn metal and cracked concrete and chlorinated leaching from the spa many meters above, wetting her back in what she hoped was merely water and not blood.

"aaaauuugh…" Celeste groaned weakly, unable to hear herself over the faint tinnitus of her augs rebooting.

You were talking, he was not responding. His hands held tight out in front of him, bent at the elbows, like he were holding an invisible bar in his grip. lean muscles flex, his ratty shirt torn and his semi-emaciated body visible in slashes and gouges of cheap fabric.

Your approach was met with the ragged, heavy breathing of his panic attack. Your foot steps like the gentle rim tap to go along with the harsh bass of his inward and outward breath.

The Baton outstretched, Electricity at your fingertips as you move closer and closer. Felix muttering to himself, murmuring prayer or perhaps curses, unintelligible in it's mewling little tenor.

"Ohgod it'son it'son it'son ohgod ohgodaaaaaauuuugghhhhhhhheeee~"

When you reach touching distance, where you could tap that baton to him and deliver a non-lethal shock to perhaps knock him unconscious, take him from here... Where you could calm him down, maybe help the man in his extended bereavement.

His head suddenly snaps up to look directly at you, pools of tears splattering downwards, falling to the floor, to his clothes. His eyes wide, as the dangerous and unpredictable cyberware turns ON...

And his hate, his loss, his bereavement... And the absolutely splitting migraine, liable to cause near immediate violent irritation, is now shared by anyone within 15 feet of him.

"AUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

It hasn't gotten easier, it feels as if his mind is clawing through the inside of his skull. As if the Cyberware wanted out. It needed more space. His skull was simply not enough.

And so his left hand slams, full fist with the connection dongle tipped at it's apex like an arrowpoint, directly into the Raw feed of the NET.

"I believe you — even then, it's conceivable that you got remoted, or hosted a signal-bounce or whatever it is Netters do, leave evidence for…" she was approaching, one slow bootfall after another, one empty hand as before, one occupied.

Only instead of a weapon, it was just her tablet.

The dissociated remarks didn't deliver her enough context to even have a single hope of what to understand from you, though she pieced together scavs and murder — a glance back toward Gary revealed an empty spot where Gary used to be.

It was said that there was a spike in Scav activity here in Dogtown, and a part of her dreaded the prospect of this lead actually going anywhere — because she had every desire to see you cooperate, transfer your logs to her device, to take it home and pore over it and realize that yes, this was a dead end. Never to come back to Dogtown again, if she could help it.

…but you weren't just putting on some Act in order to deflect her purpose or gain her sympathy, this was a real psychotic break, complete with cybernetic involvement.

…it was a split-second decision to make, whether it was for you or her or anyone else in the vicinity. The fact that the vicinity itself posed the danger of the unknown data relay and the hacked-together hardware linking this hacker den to something

A backup weapon flipped from her forearm armor and into her clip, a collapsing, rubberized baton with a non-lethal charge coursing over its length as she approached rapidly, weapon arm pulled back. If this was the wrong call, she was going to serve her penance later, but she sought to just neutralize you for now, with the goal to take you to away from here to try again once you were awake.

"Better we sort this out in a safer locale, choom…"
