There is only so much neuralware a person could have implanted before they would be considered gone. When the prefrontal cortex has taken as much damage as it had, the spine and brainstem, the bleeds and clots. Doses of nanosurgeons were only delaying the inevitable. They could not recreate what had been lost. No machine could bring back a natural breath, or a personality, or the hope of language. Not from something like this. So he waited. He let the nanosurgeons work, he let the modules and implants he had set himself in there, work. He hoped for a miracle. But neuroplasticity isn't magic. Certain things do not regrow, and no matter how many nanosurgeons attempt to guide or facilitate, the underlying biological processes remain. The rest of the brain matter could not pick up the slack. They could not reroute, or replace with machine, enough. Advanced electroencephalographs readouts, impressive nanoware internal imaging reports, AI guided algorithms for potential repairs, all came back the same. This person would never open their eyes and be the same again. This person would never even open their eyes unless a machine created the stimulus and governed the reflex.
Uh huh.
Nice necklace.

"I really like your look. It's very sexy and classy."
Nods lots.
What’s wrong with Strongbow?

"Grammatical errors happen around here a lot, too."Nods and smiles.
"I do the best I can to keep up, but it can be difficult sometimes."
Nods.

sounds goodlooking up and down the street to make sure there aren’t any unmarked cars …the last time in the joint was no joke
nods smiling
that's good to know and you all feel like
a friendly bunch, thank you Seven!
There were many tricks to pull out of the magic hat. Nanosurgeons could restructure existing cortex matter, create an artificial structure by which fine wiring and neuron replacement might be possible. Sections of the brain that could be replaced by automatic processing modules, expansion slots to the neuralware processor, even the potential of a Kerenzikov implant to take up the slack of firing quickly enough to keep existing cells active and responsive. A lack of firing meant death. The machines kept this individual stable. Their breathing and heartbeat were as a metronome. Still, after three surgeries, attempts to stop the external respirators in hope that something natural might take over, and two more tries back on the respirator and full stabilization module, it is a losing battle.
Whore steps out
smiles, waves hello
"Oh, my God! Well, whattaya wanna know? We hang out here sometimes, it's a pub It's a cool place to be no matter what time of day it is."Nods.

Smiles and nods.
