The orchestra I manage is having a house party which is in part, a fundraiser. One of our Board members has an enormous house and I presume a very large yard. Members of the orchestra are going to play chamber music all afternoon on a Saturday in September, and we'll be inviting family and friends as well as the approximately 60 people on our supporters mailing list. Anyway, she wants us to finish off with the full orchestra playing Edward Elgars "Serenade for String Orchestra". Our usual conductor will be out of town for the party...

...So I'll be conducting it. whoah. I've conducted it in a couple of rehearsals last summer but never in a performance. Yeah, I'm kind of excited. I love the piece. It's a solid challenge but I can do it. I downloaded the score a couple of days ago, time to start studying!
