The grass is better than picture perfect, it's genuinely perfect, both in soft springy feel and gentle fresh-mown scent.

There's a bower just beyond those tall hedges, surely you remember.

I can smile at the memory, for the scents bring it all back to me.

And, alas, there might prove to be no surprise to it at all, because I've worked very hard at training my family.

Oh, I'm not forgetting.

He's seen you many a time going out when he wasn't inclined and silently recited the phrase 'mad dogs and Englishmen' in no little amusement.

And I'm glad you give me the incentive time and again to join you.

He releases your hand to remove his sneakers, already an item you'd rather he'd not wear most of the time, and leave them neatly on the stairs.

Then he's stepping off and across the walk onto the grass, turning to see you as you follow.

If you dare me, I might well walk back in carrying my clothers rather than hiding behind them.

He's thought on this more than once. An affront to the formality of the building and the people who live within it.

though I'm doubting it would surprise anyone in the least.
