See, he thought the gender comment was amusing - at least, they were amused by it. You're very good at dodging parts of what they say, in ways they're less attuned to than they were with Elodie. "Huh... yeah, okay, I can see the logic in that. Same deal with renting instruments, kind of."

Admittedly, they are deeply unclear of what the expectations are in a poly relationship. This relationship. Perhaps their insecurity around it helping tune them to those dodges, more than the others.

To him, this remains simply a surprising hobby of yours. Possibly a passion, given the obvious care you took with it. Moral high-ground isn't a thing they know they have here.

"Yeah, the ear-pro." Another low laugh. "Yes, this would be much less fun for me if we couldn't talk."

You might be onto something. But then, their steadfast refusal to become hard to each other is a rebellion against the typical and conventional that his parents adore, as much as to your sensibilities. Soft as Leo is, their determination not to change that part of who they are - a part of them they like most of the time - is more steely than it appears on the surface.

"The thing about baking is that all the recipes are for batches. So if I'm baking, there's too much just for me - hell, it was too much when I was living with Elodie. So you're doing me a favour, taking them off my hands." They hesitate, wording eluding them for a moment. "We want to build a bit of a bridge to Brix, right? I kind of was thinking maybe doing something nice for him would be a decent start."

A nod, setting down the boxes where you indicate. A little stretch of arms and fingers, after the weight of them, even as they listen carefully. It's a fascinating new side of you, the didacticism. More interesting than the guns themselves to him, honestly.

Though the safety aspect is important enough that also is a pretty compelling reason to listen closely.

"Okay, got it. Finger off the trigger, safety stays on whenever you're not shooting, don't point at anything you don't want to shoot." A quirk of lips. "You're not bad at this teaching thing, y'know." A little role reversal.

A faint glance down at his tank-top at the mention of bee-stings, nodding. "Okay, I'll try not to flinch? I should've asked what appropriate wear was, I guess."

They'll accept the pistol and mag, finger staying well away from the trigger, keeping it pointed down, but away from their feet. "Yeah, let's try it."

They'll head to the booth, and really, they're grinning just because you seem so excited about it all. "Now, important question - are sexy stance corrections and adjustments only a thing for movies?" It is not important. Clearly. Nor, honestly, is it a thing they think will actually happen. It is a weird romance trope, honestly.

"How'd you get so interested in this?" It's meant as a getting to know you question, a genuine curiousity as to what sparked the passion you have for this. Even with it, though, they are carefully, conscientiously following the safety instructions. Their stance an approximation of what they see other people do, steadying their right hand with their left, careful at where the gun is pointing - they do have to check where the safety is again, and look to find it.

Reorienting before turning off the safety, so they're pointing at the target. When they do finally squeeze the trigger, it clearly does jump more than they expect with the surprised sound they make - their aim is terrible, but they're methodically firing, to try and get a feel, to compensate for that kickback.
