Yep, I watched the spectacle. While a few athletes were celebrated along the way, part of what I appreciated about the opening ceremonies was the introduction of each country's athletes in the parade of nations. I always looked for the lone athlete representing their country, marching into a massive stadium by themselves because it was all that nation to muster. That was always a meaningful moment (to me anyway). Yesterday's event seemed to skim over the athletes themselves, their boats floated by much too quickly (those that were given television coverage anyway). I did not get the same "feels" that the ceremony was a celebration of athleticism and competition as much as it was an advert for Paris, and France in general. Still, I watched that and look forward to watching some of the events.
