A rumbled chuckle and a rueful shake of my head. Because it's entirely fitting that, with a hellish evening beyond the panes of these windows, a nighting whisper wouldn't be far away.

Another layer of provocation for that already taut and restless imagination. Should dreams gather instead of sweet oblivion, there'll be no rest to be found tonight after all.

Ash is falling on the streets, the city is wreathed with smoke, and after two weeks of record-breaking heat I'd pray for rain if I were a sensible man. Or particularly religious.

No. As much as I'd welcome rain what I really crave is thunder and lightning. The spectacle of a storm unleashed to sweep away the hot, stagnant, oppressive atmosphere that's settled over the city. Let the rain come afterward, that cool relief. But first, give me crack and shatter of sky to unburden my too-long caged imagination.

Envy for the marvelous view, both the contrasting sand and the figure perched upon it. And with envy a growled/groan as well, because the lingering heat and haze of fires beyond the distant horizon is just one more bar of pressure upon that restless imagination.

Tease. Temptress. Tormentor. Cool, crisp bedsheets and a quick descent into oblivion might have been the only easy escape left tonight. But now there's the sinful thrust of full, firm breasts and the unspoken appeal for that flimsy tank top to split and lay flesh bare. The invitation of long, bronzed legs and the unspoken scandal of a ponytail and the provocative fantasies it summoned forth.
