"Success is not measured in something as crass as money." So says a woman who has never worried about it. The worst part, perhaps, is that she fully believes it - your success is absolutely meaningless. She doesn't know who you are, after all.
"Do. Not. Point at me, young lady." There's another warning there - nothing as crass as violence. But repercussions, the kind that come with the absolute certainty that you have more power and privilege than the person you are talking to.
It's at that point that Leo's mother notices Leo is missing, and frowns, touching her husband's shoulder. "Leave her, darling. She's not worth it."
And like that, again, you are dismissed. The Sterlings redirezcting to look for Leo, or perhaps the Stones.
Bye Cindy
-sits down... hard and waiting-

Softer"If I told you now, and I'm not about to tell you,
But in case I chose to mention things I know you won't allow.
Would it hurt less later if I told you now?
If I told you now that we're never really safe
From all the fires we set or debts we have to pay.
Would you hold me now, so at least for this, for now, I know you'd stay?
If you'd stay."
Ooh nice! Thank you
*slides up on a bar stool *

"I make more than all your kids combined. My mom's a homemaker and my dad's deceased. I wouldn't die on that hill if I were you — the optics don't really pan out."The hell was Holly scared of, at this point? She passed the point of 'permanent Sterling shit-list' already, might as well show some spine even if it threatens a lawyer over… something.
Oh good, Papa Sterling joined the conversation.
"Even his job's gonna go to AI before we get to the next 'near-peer' LSCO event…" Holly dared point at the Two-Star General, and she could feel her voice dip towards 'unpleasant'. As much as Holly wanted to sound, to be cool in a confontation, the fact is that she was just as flustered as everyone else. "Have a little foresight — maybe beyond your remaining years — and humble yourself."
But… well, there goes Leo. Holly sincerely had no idea what she was doing. Unmoored being the theme of the night, regardless of just where that was leading her little lifeboat, torrents of warm rain threatening to capsize her on every little swell.
(Hmmm, it looks like I missed someone earlier..)
*walks in*
Hi Cindy, it's been awhile
