The last leg across the plains in the darkened storm had been a whirlwind of pain and exhaustion as the adrenalin began to wear off. The Pani clung to his mount as they scouted ahead with one of the other raiders ensuring that they met no other nomads until they reached the Reed Village. The pain in his left shoulder and right thigh was throbbing terribly now and as the pain got stronger threatening to consume him he tried desperately to push it from his immediate consciousness into the back of his mind while his thoughts focused on staying mounted and alert to his surroundings.

The reception was somber as the wounded were helped into quarters where they were attended to. Red and his girls were never far away and while he ensured that the men got organized he attended to the captive woman and her escort the elderly warrior known as Mandla ensuring that they were secure and the woman unable to escape. The Pani did not bother to try and reason with the why anymore and just accepted that she was Reds captive for now.

The Pani was moved into a room with other wounded men and through the night he tried to relax while the slave girl djinn{RED bathed his wounds and applied the salve that his brother had provided before dressing them with rep cloth bandages that she had torn into strips. He allowed her to work on him while he closed his eyes trying to will away the pain very grateful for her help. He offered her a weak smile in gratitude without speaking just before she left to help others so that he could rest and try and heal.

He lay there in the darkness of his mind thinking of what had transpired in the short time that he had returned to the mainland after meeting his father and being welcomed into the brotherhood. Ever since then, the adventures had befallen him as he roamed with his Brother Redwolf learning from him all he could about the pack, and the techniques that they used in diplomacy, their cunning and authoritative attitude showing themselves to be far superior to others yet in many cases embracing those who were not as entitled as they were.

The Pani grimaced as he rolled over, the pain already dissipating as the salve worked on his wounds. He thought how they had been overwhelmed so quickly by the plainsmen, their waves of undulating attacks were almost surreal as they fought for their lives. If he had fallen then during that battle it would have been a good death, an honorable death. He pulled the blanket over his shoulders and fell asleep his thoughts on the way ahead and the warm sands of the Tahari.
