There was no time to even dwell on that as the Dweller in NCPD HQ loomed over the interaction and IRIDIA traced the irregular power draw to a retrofitted parallel processor running the decrypt locally.

It answered some questions, asked others, but all in all she wasn't mad about their urgency being for nothing. It was a calculation of risk based on Jackson's circumstance, and they were poised to crush this job even under the most adverse of conditions.
speaking of which, once Mr. Rodriguez had backed out of the comms and lifted the audit from the Admin room, she unclenched her diaphragm and leaned a palm against the server rack. "My biomon was prepping my adrenal glands for action. Good swerve."
The shard, decorated pink and yellow and clamshelled in anonymizing co-pilot hardware, was jacked into the unregulated gear that the office was using to decrypt The Jackson File, detonating the payload that they'd been working on, carrying the well-encrypted swap of Jackson's egregious arthouse softcore project.
"…you know that buzzcut meathead's gonna do you one for your choice of red herring… I'll go preorder your treatment with Eir, use code WORTHIT15 for 15% off at checkout—" The lilt of humor in IRIDIA's voice carried in the text-to-speech, though there was a sudden cut in her quip, one that suggested an intervention that sliced through that stream of consciousness and invaded the dialogue.
It traced back to a single line of code that came in from the sky, bounced off of the nodechain that she'd been breadcrumbing all the way down their mission space, following from the roof to the stairwell to the utility crawlspace to the elevator shaft, down the halls up the ceiling and down into this room, piercing straight into her skull.
The code read: "Heed."
IRIDIA staggered and the connections that offered her POV to you suddenly cut out, the cable connecting her to the system here detached and zipped back into her wrist, and the stream of vitals and data that linked you to her all went black simultaneously. You were still hijacked all over NCPD HQ's systems, but she vanished from view completely.

chuckling, cos I immediately knew it from Jabberwocky as well. I still have my book of Lewis Carrol poems, as well as the Alice books. I've always loved them. I once read The Jumblies to my class of SEN 8 - 10 year olds. They loved it!
