I ignore it like it's not there. I reach for the sack and pull that over my head, ignoring that too as it touches the welt and just about has me out of my skin.

Onto the cot, and onto my side, thoughts coming in rapidly as the game is afoot now friends. Some time passes before I'm able to close my eyes and find sleep.

He watches you closely and starts to get a little concerned when you place your spoon to the side like that

He lets go of his spoon still in the stew. He hears the sadness in your voice one thing he does not like is you being sad. He tries his darndest to make sure you are happy

There was a touch of sarcasm in his voice, he had not liked how that had scared you unnecessarily. He took a deep breath he did not like hearing that part about him not allowing your mother to come and visit. Your mother is her own person if she wants to visit her daughter then she should just come visit, and your father just deal with it. He understands how some people are though but that don't mean he has to like it, especially when it hurts you
