She was settled in a oversized comfy chair in the corner, sitting at a table eating a sandwich and sipping her coffee.

Rusty came by again and she stopped him to ask if they had any of those fresh baked cookies. If so she'd take a couple chocolate chip.

Rusty nodded and told her he'd bring her some back. She thanked him and picked up her coffee again. Groaning into the mug. It was good coffee.

by the smell of coffee beans and the sound of
grinders and the hiss of milk steamers. Wonderful.
Letting the door close behind her she looks around
for a table. She's in jeans and a tee shirt with sandals, a backpack slung over her shoulder.

She picked up the mug again and took another sip. Lowering it back to the table and folding one hand over the other to rub at her knuckles. That last fight was tougher than the rest she was hella sore. First thing she's going to do when she gets home is strip down and soak in the tub . Hell maybe she'll fall asleep in it. One of the advantages of that place is the huge soaking tub. She can't thank Ravyn enough for the lease on that place.

She stopped rubbing her fists and picked up her sandwich again, taking a few more bites as she relaxed a bit.

She was tired, and hungry. The fights took a lot out of her tonight. It probably didn't help that she'd been running at the beach and spent too much time in the sun earlier. She should've known better.

Still she did alright. Her knuckles were bruised, her lip was split and any bruises she had were hidden by her clothing. A baggy hoodie and some jeans and boots.

She had her hands wrapped around a mug of coffee a slight wince when the hot liquid hit that split lip.
There was a half eaten sandwich and the wrapper to a muffin on a napkin beside her.

She sipped the coffee and put it down, then reached for the other half of her sandwich to take a bite. Rusty came round to give her a refill on the coffee and she thanked him.

This is inspired by a 2021 visit to the Cafe Vinilo in Buenos Aires. I had one of the best 2-3 concert nights of my life, tucked into the back corner of the non-touristy Cafe while the local Argentinians danced.

Oh. My. God. The music. The MUSIC. It was incredible. Orquestra Tipico Victoria...they were GREAT. They were the "House Band" at Cafe Vinilo for eight years.

In memory of that night, I borrow a totally typical Tango rhythm, give it to the cello, and punctuate it with punch chords. Then I seque into something 100% original, and totally atypical, before the Tango-walk comes back again. This completes my "Tango Suite for Clarinet and String Quartet"
