As the door shuts at his back, he broke into a bout of low, rough laughter, a sound he had barely kept in check out in the hall. He might have earned every last bit of his reputation, but that didn’t mean that he lacked for a sense of humour; those older folks had been no threat, but he wasn’t about to let either of them kowtow to their sense of superiority. That was a thought that could get straight tae f*ck.

When his eyes found you again though, with the realisation that they were blessedly alone at last, after so long, it’s like a lever was thrown. He advanced on you, one corner of his mouth tugged upwards as he stalked forward, every step borrowing a great cat's prowl.

“Delilah Darling.”

He said your name, tasting it, savouring it, as his smile grew. His eyes, blue like a storm-tossed sea, raked over your form and he drew nearer still. “You, my lovely, are overdressed for the beach.”

Another step closer, and his hands moved to your blouse, those tiny buttons little impediment to his intentions. One by one they fell, his eyes never once leaving yours; something in him, even as he beheld you as prey, was ensnared by you. Ensnared, and glad of it.

His voice dropped lower while his cheek slid against your own, the rasp of his beard dragged against your skin. Reaching your ear, he whispered, low and deep, as his hands moved to guide the fabric from your shoulders. “And you are far, far too overdressed for what I have in mind, lass.”
