The first place I can say that shaped me was the library. My Mom and Dad were both readers and trooped me to the library from an early age. It helped me to realize that imagination can go far and wide. Isn't that what we do here best? Use our imaginations.
The second was a small place in Mississippi where I lived. I worked at a radio station there and got to know and become friends (that last to this day) with folks who were not like me, a city kid. I learned that we are all the same for the most part, just wanting to live peacefully.
The third was a trip to Alaska. Bears and whales and glaciers, Denali, majestic bald eagles, welcoming people..seeing these things made me want to take every opportunity I had to get out in the world.
"I didn't mean to embarrass!"
Two things lead to this post. I had mentioned to polly that I liked her 'Trip Talk' series. It got us all talking and in a roundabout way, getting to know each other and seeing how others tick. The second thing...I listen to a podcast, 'Atlas Obscura' where wonders of the world, from large to very small and obscure are discussed. The show's creator Dylan Thuris gave answers to a question he posed, "What three places shaped me?" His answers were
the house on the rock, Minneapolis where he grew up, and an apartment he and his wife lived in, in Budapest. So I pose to you the question, What three places shaped you?
(I'll share an answer in the comments. Sorry if I get a little long-winded)

Joining You on the sofa, up on Your lap"How have You been? i have thought about all of You a lot."
Monday of last week I went for an overdue eye exam. Small change in my prescription and I considered it a good excuse to get new frames. Sorry the image is so big.I think they're a little redder than the pic shows but not much. It's a pretty shade. The shape is similar to my old glasses, but the new ones are more squared across the top and I like the look.
These were the first frames I tried on, and I think I tried on a half a dozen more but in the end came back to the first pair. I guess these were the ones I was meant to have.
Now if I can just keep them clean for more than five minutes! 😁
MmmmIt has been to long baby
