In this Floor 14 hallway, he leans against a wall and catches his breath, lets the exhaustion come in a wave he knows will pass, lets the focus of his mind break apart into less ordered and more flexible possibility for the rest of his day. His hands are tired. His eyes are tired. Half of both pairs are synthetic and he can still feel their weight regardless. His white jacket is stained with crimson, and burns, and oil.

When he was younger he might take a second to consider that he is responsible for what happens afterwards. Doesn't saving a villain mean that it continues the cycle of violence? Thankfully, time and moral certainty on the matter came through experience. He's spent 17 hours in surgery on someone who was hit by a bus the next day. He's seen old tech leap back to life totally outside of his medical efforts and revive an individual better than what he'd planned to administer. He's seen good people do bad things. He's seen criminals reform to angels. He no longer questions why. There's just duty.

He saw someone's villain on deaths door, and saved them. He saw projectile holes half the size of fists punched through thick limb length tattoos. He saw bent metal within muscle, an amalgamation of electricity and flesh, bared wires striking fresh open nerve, and on top of all of it, he saw that one make it. Some ganger who would likely do the same to someone else.

He still went in there and patched them up with cheap aftermarket tech, stims, and skinlace.
