Closed / Conflict and Open Combat Be it Free or slave, Warrior or poet, and everything in between, captivating role play involves impromptu conflict between characters and differing perspectives of the players that write them. Open Combat is a spontaneous conflict that begins in roleplay between two or more characters for any reason. This type of conflict could be a capture attempt, an assassin's attack, a caravan raid, paga den fight etc. Post for Post play (P4) - the honor system (take your hits and work conflict out between yourselves, OOC if necessary) VS Alter Realm (AR) Open Combat - (Play guided by and judged based on AR rules)

Let me take a run at this as this is my opinion and understanding on the matter

This type of resolution should be the only one IC if play does not resolve the situation. I don't believe in OOC resolutions to IC situations. We come here to play IC all actions should then be considered IC and resolved IC.
As for the fighting styles for spars, Prodigy is more structured and can be used for honor spars to settle a dispute through a judgment.
Prodigy can also be used for open combat and is judged very differently to spar-styled combat also through judgments by agreed-upon parties.

I know that POD uses AR OC as a default combat system which is not bad yet very similar to Prodigy, it is also judged differently to Prodigy and is not as rigid.

A dispute between a man and a woman is invariably settled in the furs, I have never believed in indiscriminate killing off of characters however as a warrior it is par for the course.

Judgment is a mutually decided resolution to combat as is the honor system, both are mutually decided beforehand.

I believe that this adds the element of excitement to play, especially for the men of Gor.
