Though when it came to art, this one felt like it required a lot more context than others. Especially with the self-referential nature of a Romcom that leans on certain romcom tropes but not others, bringing up the Meet-Cute as a specific convention that they're escaping by starting the story with these characters already familiar with one another.

Holly didn't quite know how to receive the part where you described yourself as being more 'you' when you were acting. It was a big hint, she knew that at certain level, but not quite ready to digest or crack open.

"I guess that's one way to interpret it, that Alice derives her lessons from her parents even if it wasn't taught to her, necessarily. That her success is a takeaway we're going to have to be satisfied with. That it's not all about changing everything about everyone, but at least evolving over generations?" Holly offered her silver-linings version, even if her face didn't reflect the satisfaction she was hoping for.
