I shake my head to clear the thoughts of the woman and constant pain in my arm , and then look over and grin, seeing the raiders now have the fish displayed out on a cleaned flat stone , and are finishing up the cleaning and wrapping them up in rep to be cooked later when we stop for camp again..

I look to you and nod you over to me as I saddle and prep my big Black kaiila..

I hope so. The feeling of being a Woman's property is the best feeling a male can have.

Rehearsals
Oh, it's like some sort of societal voodoo, being with Leo's parents. Like you're given no choice but to comply or suffer some sort of wrath. Even growing up with them as friends of her parents, she feels it too. Though, her expertise in subterfuge has grown significantly, at least when it comes to them.

If you'd dropped the phone, she would've died laughing about it. Later, clearly. Not in front of Leo's parents. But you go through with your duty as impromptu photographer and she makes up an excuse for Leo right after.

For a second, she's grateful that you play along, bolster her excuse. But then the thought of you alone with Leo sinks into her mind. You comforting him and coaching him through breathing as he comes down from time with his parents has the opposite effect on her.

But... what is she going to say? Besides, she does trust Leo. And, in a few weeks, she won't need to see you anymore. They won't.

Okay, while she, personally, doesn't have strong objections to marriage, that is not where she and Leo are, nor is she sure it ever will be where they are. But she gives a sweet, polite smile at your words, playing her part in this little scene to the best of her ability.

Which involves letting Leo off the hook a bit. He's withering and she can see it, even if he's holding strong in his posture. Sometimes, it surprises her how blind you both are. He hasn't said much of anything since he introduced Holly to you, at your request.

Leo Sterling

Over time, she's tried to convince you to just play the game. She knows it's what your sisters do too, at least to some extent. Neither of them are quite as... oof as your parents. Though, maybe it's age.

But they are so much harder on you than they are on either of your sisters and certainly than they are on her. She knows it.

So, she subdues the dragon and keeps you together. (Because murder is illegal and she doesn't want to spend eternity in prison for the double homicide of your parents. Subduing will suffice.)

You lean into her and she breathes slow and deep, a silent encouragement for you to do the same. You lean into the role of perfect son as Holly takes pictures and she feels so loved when you look at her that way, when relief floods your expression, your posture.

You're the best.

Fingers catch yours for a second as she lifts to kiss you, perhaps more lingering than is really appropriate, but you need it.

And she loves you.

As you head off, she'll turn back to your parents, preparing to entertain them for a bit and hoping her own will arrive soon.
