All of a sudden a blood curdling scream echoed out in the common room and her head popped up to see who did what.

It was Ruth again. Crazy Ruthie. She was a screamer, random screamer. No damn reason just AHHHHHHH out of the blue. Some times she wondered if it was a tension breaker for the woman and it just needed to be done.
She did giggle when her scream scared one of the new orderlies who jumped about a foot in the air.

Then the peanut gallery chimed in with their exotic bird calls and monkey sounds and she giggled again and started a chorus of

"In the asylum the loud asylum the nutters scream tonight oooh wheee eee eee eee."

Laughter ensued and the sounds got louder, which caused the orderlies to get angrier.

She'd started the jungle riots and she just giggled and skipped away off to find Rizzi.

She and Earl sat in the hallway down at the bouncy rooms and she pulled out the phone she'd nicked.
Earl gasped and asked where she got that from. She told him she took it off an asshole orderly and she had to make a call . She asked if he'd be her eyes and he told her yes if she'll let him use it to call his man after.

So he watched while she googled and punched in the number she was given , so long ago. She hoped it still worked.
She waited while it rang and Earl had his eyes and ears peeled for the asshole orderlies.

It rang and rang and rang and finally she got a voice mail. She was relieved to hear the familiar voice and knew it had to be the right number so she , very quickly, left a message. Rambled as fast as she could and then hung up. Deleted her call history and got up to walk to Earl and slid it into his hand.

"Drop it in the orderlies break room when you're done. Make sure you clear your history, Earl. We don't want to get caught. They'll just think they left it at work tomorrow."

She grinned and Earl giggled like a school girl.
He scampered off and she went back up to the common room. Where she'd been sitting in her favorite spot of the window since then.

Staring out the window and hugging her knees.
She sighed and put her cheek against her knee.

Colton's expression tightened with resolve as he took charge of the situation. Without hesitation, he turned and swiftly gathered the necessary supplies himself, his movements efficient and purposeful. With practiced ease, he filled a bowl with water, selected a clean knife from the sheriff's desk, and retrieved a roll of bandages and a bottle of whiskey from the nearby cabinet.

Returning to Keziah's side, Colton placed the items within her reach, his eyes meeting hers with a silent reassurance. "Here you go, Keziah," he said calmly, his tone steady despite the urgency of the situation. "Let me know if you need anything else. We'll get through this together."

Lucas nodded weakly as Keziah listed off the items she needed, his trust in her unwavering despite the pain coursing through his body. Her determination mirrored his own.

"Thanks, Keziah,"

Lucas murmured, his voice barely audible over the commotion.

"I'll owe you a drink after this...and more."

Despite his own pain, Lucas couldn't help but feel a surge of admiration for Keziah's unwavering resolve. Her fiery determination to seek retribution only fueled his own resolve to make sure she was told certain things later when they were alone, so that she understood.
