The practice of slavery is a thriving business despite the legal restrictions within the Badlands.

There are three ways in which one may be enslaved within the Badlands.
1. To surrender one's self of their own free will into slavery.
2. To be sentenced by a Magistrate to slavery for crimes or to cover owed debts.
3. to be taken as a captive prize during a raid or combat.

Slave are identified by any sort of collar that has been placed on them by the One they are owned by.

Unless it is the wish of the Owner, slaves are not branded.

Slavery is not always necessarily always a life sentence. Slave may earn or purchase their freedom.
1. Slaves may earn their freedom by a legal order from a Magistrate for acts deemed worthy by the Official.
2. Through their labors in service to their Owner their Owner allows money earned by the slave to be applied towards slave purchasing their own freedom.
3. The One owning the slave chooses to grant the slave their freedom rather then keeping the slave or gifting/selling the slave to another.

The clothing allowed to a slave will be at the discretion of their Owner. Slaves may be left bare, given rags to wear, or dressed on plain clothing.

Indentured Servants are not legally slaves just persons that had signed contracts placing them in the service of another for a set amount of time under certain conditions.

However, unless prohibited by the terms of the contract, the Holder of the contract may sell the Indenture Contract to another. Should this happen, the new Holder may elect to honor the original terms, extend the terms, or terminate the contract releasing the indentured person.
