In fairness, he hadn't told you. The talk with you was part of how they'd decided they should celebrate. The panty pictures, all got 11/10s on the cute scale, you haven't proved him wrong yet. Though he's really enjoying you trying.

The day itself had been pretty quiet. Conspicuously quiet, in the lone happy birthday text from Dee, and absolute silence from his family. But they weren't thinking about that, right? Right.

The buzz of their phone has them fishing it out from their pocket, a bright smile chasing some of the shadows of the talk of Dee from his expression. A moment of appreciation for the picture, and then another of trying to figure out where you are based on the food truck.

His height, and you being on a bench does help. Instead of a selfie back, he's looking til he spots you and waving. "Talia!" Called, over the crowd, because hey, he can project. "Over here!"

Then, because you're carrying too much, he'll meet you partway so he can carry... whichever thing you hand to him when he asks, "need a hand?"

Only then sweeping you into a bear hug. "I'm glad you came." So, navigating dating two people? New to him. Also, are they kissing as a greeting? He has no idea.

Instead, bear hug. And a moment of lingering, looking unsure as to whether or not they're at the stage of something else than a hug.

"C'mon, let me introduce you to Holly."
