You get a look of something that is shock, admiration, and utter dismay as you talk back to his parents.

It still feels like he can't breathe, but this is approaching the relatively normal version of that for him. The pressure he feels so much of the time, live and in colour. Take a look at the amazing shrinking Leo, while you still can.

It's an improvement of sorts. Short of full blown, debilitating panic and erring more towards something actionable. Even if that action still boils down to simple flight. Pushing back against his parents never goes well, certainly not for him, and he simply cannot.

So he's pulling his phone out of his pocket, and using the distraction you're providing to call an uber. He doesn't know where he's going, but it defaults to home - his home with Elodie - and he can't think clearly enough to do anything else.

He can't even stay still long enough for it to get here. He taps a spot on the map for pick up that is anywhere but here, and bolts.

"I thought I said I didn't consent to this interaction — but… seeing as how you've now just decided to barrel through… what was your plan, anyway?" Holly swallowed dryly in preparation to truly seize the point of those horns, flicking her head to dance away a lock of her hair.

"Hm? …reframe all of Leo's actions against a chain of obligations…" Her inflection dropped on the word, just as her expression did, glaring through her sunken brow. "Kinda just… do more of the same… carry on just disregarding Leo's agency?

How's that worked out for you so far?"

It got them here, apparently, to go stir a confrontation outside the back door, compel them to speak the quiet part out loud, presume themselves over the wheel now that the illusion of ceding control proved inadequate to force the outcome they desired.

"Leo was always destined to be great — all you've accomplished is to make is so that Leo is now great in spite of you," it seemed so imbecilic, to her, to become an obstacle when the outcome and seize your child's future like it was your own. "Your greatest contribution will be in Leo's future memoir — about the emotional abuse that was overcome on the road to greatness."
