He watched you go and once you were back inside the house, he would take up some nails the hammer and step over to the wood lifting up the other end making sure it is even, before hammering in those nails.

When he was finished he stepped into the barn putting his tools away then tending to the animals for the night before he would lock up and head back to the house

I bet you do!

The water rose up bare legs - the coolness sending a shiver along her spine but she loved being at the stream and would come here when she could ... but for now, she was tasked with filling the water barrels so she couldn't dally for long.

Scooping water into each bucket, she exited the stream and attached them to the carrying pole.
Carefully - and slowly - she crouched down, lifting the pole to her shoulders once again - this time it was so much heavier.

She slowly stood up and tottered a bit until she balanced the weight.

Stepping out here
