Vanessa's apprehension lingered despite Ace's comforting gesture. She slightly nodded, her eyes following Marshal McCallister as he returned to his horse. The unease in her expression deepened, her thoughts swirling with unanswered questions.

Turning back to Ace, she forced a faint smile though her worry remained evident.

"Alright, Ace. Just... be careful, okay? We don't need any more trouble tonight."

Her voice held a note of concern as she watched him, silently hoping that whatever was about would not bring what the apprehension within was screaming it could or would. She didn't mean for any of that to sound well the way it came out; it just... well, it just did. And her silence fell as you turned to finish up. She would work her steps back into the house.
