She reached out to gently scratch behind the calf’s ear, earning a contented bleat from the little creature. "Well, curly here has good taste, I must say."

The vastness of the desert seemed less daunting now, with Rip’s familiar presence anchoring her. The corner of her mouth still tingled from the brief kiss, a silent promise of deeper feelings that neither had fully expressed.

"I've missed this," she confessed softly. "And I’ll definitely come out this way more often. There’s so much I want to talk to you about."

Her eyes sparkled with curiosity and a hint of mischief. "I met someone named Keziah, and let's just say I had to waylay a rather smelly man who was causing trouble. He seemed to have issues with Keziah even being near me, but I didn’t know him. Honestly, he smelled awful."

Elarra laughed, the sound light and melodic, then looked at Rip more seriously. "By the way, I've been getting some odd looks because of my attire. Do you think you could tell me why? Isn’t this right?"

Rip’s dark eyes sparkled as he regarded her, taking in the flowing, faded white to tan fabric that draped elegantly around her. She could see his admiration, but also a hint of amusement.

"How can I make sure to see you more often?" Elarra continued, her voice softening. "I don't want this much time to pass between us again. There are too many stories to share and adventures to be had."

She gazed into his eyes, feeling a deep connection that transcended words. "I've missed you, Rip. More than I can say."
