The slave rules have now been updated as follows. They are posted here for the information of slaves who follow them and the free who correct and guide them.

1. Greeting and serving order. Your owner, the High Jarl (Jonas), Free Men of Scagnar, Visiting Free Men, Scagnar Free Women, Visiting Free Women, slaves. If there are more than 5 people present when you enter, you may use a mass greeting. (eg Greetings my owner, Jarl Jonas, Jarls, Mistresses, slaves.)

2. It isn't mandatory that you greet those not in the same pulldown as you. (That doesn't mean to say you can't, just that you don't have to.) Common sense should prevail here. It usually depends on how busy the room is and the roleplay the others are engaged in.
The following are generally not greeted: Site Mods and Messengers.

3. Wait to greet a Visiting Free until after a Free of the Isle has greeted them.
If a Free is not present, wait until a trainer(first girl) has greeted.

4. Do not enter the room OOC unless it is extremely important. Try to keep OOC conversations out of the room as much as possible. Opt to use instant messengers, email and the boards to speak with others OOC.

5. The use of pulldowns is mandatory, not optional.

6. Upon entering the room, take a few minutes to review the back posts to see who has and hasn't been served. It is also appropriate to PM a serving bond, asking who else needs service.

7. Do not engage with others whilst standing or kneeling before a free with their food/drink. The one you are serving should be receiving your total attention. This however, does not extend to the walking to and from the kitchen. it would be unrealistic that a bond ignores others when walking past them. Once you are offering the food/ drink you are to remain silent until it is taken from you by the free. If a person is RTId or does not respond, you may leave the drink for them to take after five minutes and move on.

8. You may do a Torvie serve (taking food and/or drinks around on a tray) if the ratio is a minimum of one bond to four free. Serve your owner first and singularly before progressing to tray service (unless directed otherwise by your owner)

9. As far as a slave is concerned, a free is never wrong. If you are corrected by a free or slave trainer, the correct response is “Yes Jarl” or “Yes Mistress” or the trainer's name.
You can add an apology. If the free is extremely annoyed, a beg of forgiveness would be a wise option. When begging forgiveness it is appropriate to refer to yourself in the third person.

10. In a time of attack, be sure you know our Emergency Procedures and follow the Senior Free Woman or bondmaid in the home

11. You may only touch a weapon at the command of a Free. As a specific exception, kitchen knives, skinning knives and knives used to clean game, when used correctly, may be used without permission being granted.

12. Punishment for traveling without permission can be very harsh. Think carefully before going anywhere.

13. You must request permission to leave. If a response to your request hasn't been given after three minutes, you may leave a polite message of farewell and leave. Do not just x out.
In cases of emergencies or a pressing RT, just leave. A hungry/crying child should never be left waiting.
If you are alone in the room, leave a polite message before leaving eg. "Leaves well wishes for those who follow"

14. Disputes or complaints should be presented to a trainer who will preside over the issue completely unless they feel the matter should be presented to a Training Coordinator. Training Coordinators will have final say in all matters regarding slaves as per orders of Jarl Jonas. These issues will not be taken out of the chain of command.

15. Exquisite BEAUTY and absolute OBEDIENCE is expected of slaves. Slaves owe their owners absolute OBEDIENCE A slave girl's duty is absolute OBEDIENCE. A Scagnar bond should always act becomingly and be aware she is representing her owner and the Isle.
