He looks down at his clothes lifting his arms slightly as he does, then tilts his head slightly as he looks up at you

"I will have you know this is one of my best outfits. By the gods do not tell the man that or he will have us all in matching uniforms."

He made a look like he just tasted something bad. He lowered his arms as he listened to the banter between you and the woman who was obviously your wife.

He had to lift his hand to hide a smile at her witty reply.

It may have been a hell of a week, but you made it out the other side. Mad props to that!

Rusche came bounding toward Jynx and baby Braiden, her excitement palpable as she practically skipped over to them.

"Oh my stars, look at you two!"

she exclaimed, enveloping Jynx in a tight hug before turning her attention to baby Braiden.

"And who is this little bundle of joy?"

she cooed, her eyes sparkling with delight as she scooped him up in her arms.

"Oh, you are just too precious! You and I are going to be the best of friends, mark my words."

With a mischievous grin, Rusche leaned in close to baby Braiden, whispering conspiratorially,

"I've got a surprise for you, little one. Your very own room, filled with all sorts of magical toys and wonders. Won't that be fun?"

With that, she planted a quick kiss on Braiden's forehead before turning back to Xavier and Jynx with a wink.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go and explore your new home!"

And with that, she whisked away, Braiden cradled in her arms, leaving behind an air of excitement and anticipation.

The full impact of the high speed elevator whizzing past isn't felt... but enough gets through that he's certain that if HE was in that situation there'd be hacker bits gumming up the works for *months*. Definitely better you than him, mostly because you've got the chrome and the training to deal with this type of infiltration!

"That was almost bad, and I'm glad you're okay. It's an office setup with a drop ceiling that's got a good three feet of space for the ductwork. No idea what else is under there but as long as you manage to avoid any high pressure steam lines you should be good."

Reaching Floor 11, he's able to ping that floor's camera network to reveal the expected cleaning staff working their way through the far offices and a skeleton crew of overnight lab techs running DNA sampling and stuff on the far side of the building.

"Take a right out the door, and the third door on your left. It's an administrator office, so it'll have the access we need. The cleaning crew's already been by this section so as long as we don't tweak the dweller we're all good."

If you had to find the dweller's physical location then we were indeed head-down in the shit and sinking fast. The Dweller is hanging out in a sub-basement along with the servers of the NCPD. Back in the day they were on floor 11 along with other stuff, but the EMP effects of the Arasaka Tower getting nuked meant that a lot of important stuff had to be recovered from backup and a *lot* of expensive gear became paperweights. So when the building was remodeled, data security got a much higher priority. Fortunately, should push comes to shove Nobunaga's got some tricks up his sleeve that this guy probably has never seen. Cementing his digital ownership of Tower 11's maintenance systems has taught him a lot about the ins and outs of practical engineering.

"Of course it wasn't bought with my skin tone in mind. You're pale as all get out and I'm decidedly not. Admittedly, it's off the shelf rather than natural but hey I'll take the tan that I've got now. Also unless you're dropping the *good* eddies skip the lace. Call me sensitive, but the cheap lace is scritchy! I'll take the deeper jewel tones anyday."

You confess that fear and he's silent for a long moment digesting it. That discontinuity is one of the things that endlessly occupies Buddhist thought these days. When memory storage moves external and is lost or stolen... Are you the same person? What does that hole do to your sense of self? How can you manage to function with this gap, and are you still "you" when you've got someone else's memories? This is a question that he's grappled with before himself. Trite answers flip through his mind only to be discarded in short order. This isn't some seminary where clever sophistry will win the day, this is an actual use-case and that fear is rational.

"There's no quick and good answers to that, hon. You've got every right to be scared. All I can say is two things: Be in the moment when you can, and if you do become that deeply untethered you've got an active external memory store that can recover what was missing. And trust that I'll make sure Bamboo gets the sea meats and that your vivariums will be taken care of. I make no guarantees about the crickets, because they like to jump and Bamboo thinks they're sky raisins..."

The torches burned bright as darkness fell upon the Camp. Slaves tended to the central fire assuring it didn't go out.

Xavier glanced at Finn, his expression carefully neutral, feigning confusion at Finn's words.

"Pet? Oh, uh, no, no pets here,"

he replied casually, gesturing towards the courtyard where Baby Shadow had disappeared.

"Just... uh, shadows doing their thing, you know?"

He offered a sheepish grin, hoping Finn would buy into the vague explanation.

As Finn continued, Xavier's grin widened slightly, amused by the banter.

"Ah, yes, of course, you work here," he responded, nodding as if finally understanding. "Does your boss knowyou dress like that ?"

he added with a chuckle, playing along with Finn's jest about an abandoned place.

Turning to Jynx, Xavier exchanged a silent grin with her, a shared amusement passing between them. He then gently handed Braiden to Jynx, who cooed and giggled in her arms, adding a touch of warmth to the playful exchange.

Xavier chuckled softly at Jynx's playful response, her wit adding a lightheartedness to the situation.

"Well no Baby I tried to go left but then you said right and
then straight...hell I was confused. You know me, Im old..."

he admitted with a grin, playing along with her teasing about the Drombeg Stone Circle.

"And yes, apparently we crossed a river,"

he added, his tone light and amused.

He followed Jynx's gaze as Baby Shadow darted out from between Finn's legs, a small grin tugging at his lips at the sight of their mischievous shadow companion.

"Seems like we had a stowaway Baby...crap!"
