My peripheral catches the shove-and-tumble of Hirosaki, but I couldn't afford the bandwidth to take my eyes off of you. Those that saw the interaction happening start to flee the scene, shoving others out of the way as they disappear from my vision. I hear the shuffling sounds of feet, the frequency of the footfalls falling in and out of sync with the thundering bass and heavy mids of the music blasting through the speakers.

My coil-line doesn't fully reach where I need it to go. I had no augs that sped up my motor function to near inhuman levels. I had no Sandevistan. No way to meet you on the battlefield for a long, protracted battle.

I did however, have that long, thin cable that had perhaps a single loop around your neck, and a bit further down your hand, gripping it.

My left arm outstretched, It feels like forever That you stare me down and I do my best to hold that blistering red gaze.

'So you said your next-of-kin is in Dub—'

The cable, from about a third of the way down it's length to it's frayed tip looked to be made of a tightly spun wire, unhoused from the segmented metal of the other two thirds of the weapon.

Which is because the end that you held, as well as it's loose wrap around you were spliced directly into the power reserves on my physical presence 'ware. The augments in my legs that gave me grasshopper-like leaps every once in a while, once the Dynamo-style charge on them had wound up enough for a current.

I hadn't used them since long before I found tiggy, to leap onto the roof of a bar in the unincorporated south, beyond Dogtown's wall.

Fully charged, which crackled within the protective housing of the cable until it met bare air and arc'd across it with the high-pitched wail of a Tesla coil and deep stench of burnt ozone.

Game over!
