As Vanessa returned to the homestead, Shane's excited barks filled the air, his tail wagging eagerly as he bounded ahead towards Ace, who was working near the barn. She smiled at the sight, knowing how much Shane adored Ace's company.

After briefly entering the house, Vanessa emerged moments later with a pitcher of cold lemonade and a couple of glasses. The day's heat was already becoming known, and she knew Ace would appreciate a refreshing drink.

Approaching Ace quietly, Vanessa took a moment to observe him in his element. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing the sinewy muscles of his arms as he worked with focused determination. The sunlight danced across his rugged features, highlighting the dusting of stubble on his jawline and the twinkle in his eyes.

With a playful smirk, Vanessa cleared her throat, announcing her presence as she held out a glass of lemonade.

"Looks like you could use a break, cowboy. Thought I'd bring you a little something to cool you down,"

She said, her voice laced with amusement.
