He's locking up as he goes, following you out into the cooler night air. You get the laugh you were probably aiming for, and no attempt to push the compliment. "That they do."

You wave off your own advice, and it is noted with a faint smile. There's a moment where he considers asking what you were going to say. But he's pushed plenty tonight, and you're not offering him a lift. Maybe that doesn't mean anything at all. Or, it means you want space, and have done enough talking tonight. Usually, you'd get a hug here, but you're already walking away. A quiet sigh to himself, before he settles on the front steps of the building, pulling out his phone to find a way home. With no one left to observe him, he once again makes himself small, propping an elbow on a knee to prop up his head up. Small, and tired, and fighting the feeling he's being slowly compressed.
