I sat just below the crest of a hill. My clothing was intentionally neutral so that I blended in with the Plains. Sitting in a shadow, I would be nearly impossible to detect till I choose to move.

Then I saw them, four of them just about three quarters of a pasang away. More Outriders, only these where Tuchuks this time judging by the way they were dressed and rode. Granted I was bias, but to My mind the Tuchuk riders were the best mounted cavalry unit in the known world. Against, land bases cavalry they knew few equals.

Tarn cavalry was another matter. But the Tuchuk saddle weapons with not only a lance, but braces of saddle quivas, a short bow made for use from the saddle. Not to mention the bola would match any but the best trained tarnsmen. Mobility being the tarns greatest asset
