When she and Perry had realized that Cal's location was not only in Dogtown, but presently not moving, she'd been genuinely fearful to head in alone. But bringing Perry wasn't really going to be a help, no matter how much she adored him. So, instead, she'd kept up a running back-and-forth with him as she made her way to the spot on the map Perry had shared with her.

Then again, every last bit of calm disinterest she can muster is being projected out. To the point where she's even humming as she walks. Weird, but not so weird that she's about to stop. Not since the subliminal influence works so much better when there's actual sound attached to it.

In truth, she'd thought about projecting something else. Goodwill, compassion, the sort of things that would make someone want to help, but they'd seemed to be too out of place and she didn't want anything to go wrong. Perry would be so upset.
