NCPD HQ remains on lockdown as the aftermath of a brutal prison riot is dealt with. The recent upsurge in gang violence had the holding cells near capacity with members of the local gangs known as the Tyger Claws and The Mox awaiting trial and sentencing. NCPD Spokesperson Laura Kelley had this statement about the situation.

"About 1:45 am, a Netrunner with the handle of "Daimyo" breached NCPD security and triggered fire alarms on the 13th floor. This caused the evacuation protocol to be deployed across the entire floor, which released all of the prisoners awaiting sentencing and processing. As large numbers of these prisoners were from rival gangs instead of an orderly evacuation it turned into a violent riot which claimed the lives of 7 of the NCPD's valiant service members. Before the gangs could be released back into Night City our on-duty Dweller, specialist Felix Rodriguez, was able to intercept Daimyo's attempt to release the lockdown and let criminals stream back into hiding in Night City. He engaged Daimyo with the best defenses the NCPD has to offer, and the Tyger Claw netrunner was killed in the exchange. Less than a handful of prisoners actually got free, and the NCPD is vigilant about recapturing these petty crooks and returning them to justice."

The Mayor's office issued a statement condemning the gang violence and offering their condolences for the brave NCPD members who heroically lost their lives in the line of duty. That sentiment was echoed by other members of the City Council, although questions about increased funding for the NCPD in the face of this disaster were met with simply "No Comment" for the most part. The gang violence was slowing, but this surge of activity will undoubtedly embolden both gangs to continue the cycle of violence in their respective neighborhoods.
