If she could laugh properly, she would. Instead, she coos, "You're a genius," while she stays there in the all, still hugging herself, still pacing like a hungry cat.

"Thank you, Perry," and you say you want us to make sure Guillermo's hooked up, so she forces her heavy boots to carry her back into the room. Guillermo makes garbled sounds from behind the sock and she avoids looking at him, trying to think of him as just a body to connect, not as the person she feared most in the world.

One of the restraints brushes against her arm as she connects Guillermo and it makes her scream inside, nearly jerking her arm away. It's just a restraint, just a strap, but it makes her skin feel livid with memory.

She breathes better as you say you're creating the back doors.

It ought to make her feel good to know that Guillermo will be vulnerable in the way that she is.
But it doesn't.

It's the best way to keep him from harming others or hurting her friends, so it's the best option.
The only other would be to kill him.

But she also knows there are some things worse than death.

Once Guillermo is hooked up, she backs out of the room into the hall again.

Jackson Ward --

She nods when you say it's time to go.

Faced with that fork in the road, she glances from you to Perry and then to Guillermo.

Can she really just leave him here like this? Practically unscathed?

She watches you jostle him and threaten him, and he is on lockdown from Perry so the threats can be followed through on.

But still...

Should she just walk away now, leave him here and call it a night?

You exit the room and she'll wait until Perry does, too.

And the she steps in.

This horror room she never wanted to see again. And she walks to the chair, each step slow and heavy in spite of outward grace.

And she reaches out to slowly roll the sock up his face and off, checking to ensure Perry has moved out into the hall so he cannot be seen, and she looks down into Guillermo's frightened eyes.

She still speaks with voice he's given her --

"You are a small man. A terrible father. And you'll never see me again."

Tears well in his eyes and then spill.

And with that, she turns from him and walks out without a backward glance.

If she could cry right now, she would not.

She joins Jackson Ward and Perry... heading for the elevator.

"Thanks, guys."

No, this is the Jackson that does his best to get shit done. Sometimes there's room for jokes. But most of the time, it's all business. Much like he is when he's in the middle of taking down a Cyberpsycho with his squad.

There are a few extra stakes because it's about you. And he wants you taken care of.

For now though, he's standing next to you while he watches Perry work. Nodding at the updates being given in real time. He's doing what he can, but this is still the heart of the matter.

"Preem."

When Perry says the cameras are dealt with.
He receives the incoming message from Perry and simply nods to him with a smile.

He looks over at you as Guillermo works further, and then looks back at him once he says he's done.

"Okay. If that's all, we should delta before the paralysis and EMP effects wear off. Trauma team will probably be alerted if their biomonitor detects the poison still..."

He approaches Guillermo with a growl.

"But you're going to tell them nothing happened, got it?

You were experimenting with something and had a small accident. Both of you."

And Jackson's hand comes out, grabbing the man by the front of the shirt, lifting him an inch even with the man still blinded by the sock. Growling down.

"Don't forget. We'll be watching. And we'll know. This is your only warning .."

Jackson will release the shirt and man, and then turn to walk from the room toward the elevator, looking at you with a smile.

We're going to get through this.

"Then I will find another way."

It was said simply. You rode ahead again and she was aware something had touched a nerve for you. Like it or not she needed to know. Everything. The plains might be dangerous but if she could not understand the curse she could not heal it.

Her mind started whirling and she took a deep breath and went back to her quiet travel, determined. She would find a way. One way or another.
