motti walked and walked, searching for anything edible, mostly she was left to
scratching for insects and worms, no luck with any berries or nuts this early in the
season. she thought about her Mistress, she couldn't get the image of her death
out of her mind, and the questions, why, who would want the Free Woman dead?
Mistress Janet wasn't a Ubara of and city or anything. She was just a normal
Free Woman for all motti knew, of course motti didn't know a Free's business.

That coiled copper tube runs out quickly and the spray of sparks subsides after a few seconds. Echo drops his arm and groans as some of his systems come back online. But the biological and the mechanical ones.

While Quad-Carlos is squaring off with you, all the extra exertion on that smaller battery is wearing it down. The clip manages to knock it over, sending his four legs in the air in a frantic scramble to reposition and lift itself up. Very...slowly...

Each lifts his right hand, tools extending again, and cuts open the casing on his left bracer. The unit was completely dead now without its power or programming...but it did have one thing in it that he could use.

Echo extracts the lone black sphere from Carlos's bracer corpse as he sits up. Awardly moving it from his right hand to his left and then moving his right arm at an angle to position the opening of the coiled tube magazine just below his fingers. His teeth clench. Sweat runs down his face. His left arm is killing him. But...

He drops it in. There's a rolling sound as gravity takes over to pull that black ball around the coiled tube down into the bracer unit. Round and round it goes before it lands the firing chamber.
